Stop feeding lies to Malacañang

CEBU CITY (April 26, 2024) – Mayor Mike Rama assured President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. that he continues to support his administration.

He condemned critics who sowed intrigue between him and the President, feeding a Malacañang official “false information” that he has cut ties with Marcos.

“The City of Cebu under my leadership strongly support PBBM and all duly constituted authorities, no matter what,” Rama said.

“My support to the President has never withered. But rather, very much resolved and steadfast,” he added.

Rama said he received word that one of his critics gave false information to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin that he allegedly cut ties with Marcos in favor of Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Carpio has been seen as a potential contender for the 2028 presidency.

“Shame on them for using the name of the Executive Secretary. Malicious slanderous statements,” Rama added.

Rama issued the statement just a day before Marcos is set to visit Cebu to grace the 503rd commemoration of the Battle of Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City.

Loyal to President, country

Despite the recent verbal clashes between the Marcos and Duterte camps, Rama said it has not deterred his loyalty to the President and to the country.

He also remains friends with the Dutertes, both the vice president and her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.

“There is no loyalty to talk about. We are talking about our country. You perform your job as a mayor, do good governance and shun corruption, then you help the President,” Rama said.

The mayor also prayed for political unity as the country continues to face several crises as of late.

He also reminded his critics who accuse him of disloyalty to “look at themselves in the mirror.”

“What have they done to this country? (While) they are sowing division, I am promoting unity,” he added. | RMN / jkv
