CEBU CITY (Feb. 27, 2024)Mayor Mike Rama said he has already signed the First Supplemental Budget (SB1) for the year.

Mayor Mike Rama

“I have already signed it. The Local Finance (Committee, LFC) must have already submitted the documents to the Sangguniang Panlungsod,” he said in Ingna’ng Mayor program over Sugboanon Channel from Manila via Zoom today.

Councilor Noel G. Wenceslao last week asked the LFC to submit the SB1 soon so that the City Council could act on it, subject it to a public hearing.

SB1 will cover funds needed for the city’s transitional housing project, infrastructure requirements for the Palarong Pambansa in July and other items not covered in the 2024 Budget the legislature had approved.

Asked if there will be a belated Charter Day Bonus for city employees, Mayor Rama replied “of course, ngano’ng dili man. Dili man ako’y naghatag ana’ng numero ba, sila na man.”

The transitional housing complex is slated to be built at the area in South Road Properties (SRP) near the northern corner of Pond A used as bagsakan during the pandemic.

The project is meant for dwellers who will be affected by the clearing of the 3-meter easement of the city’s rivers and waterways by Task Force Gubat sa Baha (TF GsB).

By plan, those accommodated in this complex will be given priority to live for good in residential units within the planned South Coastal Urban Development (SCUD) project in Alaska, Basak San Nicolas.

City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) presented the artist’s rendition of the project concept during its Panglantaw teleradyo program over Sugboanon Channel today.

Arch’t. Jhomari Villarojo, CPDO planning and design division head, bared the transitional housing complex will comprise an array of four-storey easy-to-assemble buildings.

“Very exciting, as Mayor (Rama) had envisioned, wala’y mabiyaan, if maguba (as a result of GsB operations). Dili mo kalimtan, naa mo’y transitional housing at SRP,” he said.

While the site at full development is planned for 10,000 housing units, Villarojo said SB1 will cover structures good only for the initial 600 units.

“The terms of reference has already been crafted in preparation for bidding,” also said Arch’t. Ann Marie Y. Cuizon, the CPDO assistant head.
