CEBU CITY (Dec. 15, 2023) – The City Government will reactivate its Task Force Disiplina (TFD) and has urged citizens to observe local policies on cleanliness, health and safety, peace and order, and traffic at their homes and communities.

Pastor “Jongjong” Alcover III, executive director of the city’s Peace and Order Program (POP), explained the city means business to instill discipline in the barangay level.

“Ang usa sa marching order ni Mayor Mike Rama nga moadto mi sa mga barangay, manoktok sa inyong kabalayan,” he said during the POP Peace Talks teleradyo program over Sugboanon Channel today.

“Mangumusta mi sa inyong pagpuyo, ug mo-remind sa pagsunod sa atong mga ordinansa,” he added.

He said the TFD is part of Mayor Rama’s strategy to help achieve the Cebuanos’ collective aspirations for a Singapore-like Cebu City.

Rama created the TFD after signing Executive Order 4 on Oct. 1, 2022.

The mayor issued the order as a way to “devise approaches that are aggressive and massive in character and will storm the City with innovations, enhancements, and advancements.”

Associated frontline agencies and volunteers under TFD would patrol barangays and remind citizens to discipline themselves and strictly follow the city’s laws and ordinances, the EO states.

Aside from the POP, the TFD is composed of the following entities:

  • Armed Forces of the Philippines
  • Philippine National Police, through Cebu City Police Office
  • Bureau of Fire Protection
  • Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office
  • Cebu City Transportation Office
  • Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team
  • Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification, and Enhancement
  • The 80 barangays
  • Cebu City Satellite Office
  • City Environment and Natural Resources Office
  • City Environment and Sanitation Enforcement Team
  • Public Information Office
  • The Academe
  • Deputized volunteers
  • Force multipliers

Discipline starts at home

Alcover said the TFD will instill Rama’s call for citizens to inculcate discipline in their households.

He hopes that TFD can start its operations since the city will be swamped with so many activities this month until January next year. 

“Dili ta gusto nga kung naay bisita moanhi dinhi, makapanaway nato nga hugaw ang atong dakbayan ug wala tay disiplina,” Alcover said.

Alcover said the POP initially visited some barangays to remind residents of the TFD’s reactivation next year. 

“Kamo nga naa diha karun nga naminaw, kung pwede, panglimpyo namo sa inyong tugkaran. Ayaw mo paabot nga manuktok pa ang kapulisan ug ang TFD nga mo-remind ninyo,” he added. | PPRMN / jkv
