CEBU CITY (December6, 2023) — Balik na ‘ta sa Cebu!

Mayor Mike Rama made this invitation to domestic and international tourists when he formally opened the Balik Cebu booth at Ayala Center Cebu earlier today.

The mayor, along with top executives of Ayala Center Cebu and Balik Cebu Committee, said that the Balik Cebu program returns in time for the Sinulog.

“Malipayon kaayo because this means that we are starting to experience normalcy right when we are about to celebrate the Sinulog,” he said.

Mayor Rama recalled that during the inception of the first Balik Cebu event in 2002, he was among the few city officials who fully supported the event.

He said he understands the importance of welcoming domestic and international travelers, in making them feel that “Cebuano hospitality” is incomparable.

Furthermore, the mayor also explained to the group the reason why he is “really” pushing to hold the Sinulog Grand Parade at the South Road Properties (SRP).

“It is about time that we showcase the SRP and prove to them that we can host world-class events there,” he said.

As to his doubters, Mayor Rama said that he only wishes that they find peace in what they do, adding thtat he only wants what is best for the Cebuanos.

“Doubters can continue to doubt. I will just work hard and continue to work hard because my heart is in the service of the people,” the mayor said.

On the other hand, Balik Cebu Committee Chairperson Tetta Baad thanked the mayor for joining in the activity.

The opening of the Balik Cebu booth marks the return of the Balik Cebu Program after it was put on hold due to the Pandemic.

The booth will serve as an information center for all Sinulog-related activities tourists would inquire about.

Tickets for the Jan. 12 Balik Cebu dinner that Ayala Center Cebu will host for the balikbayans at The Terraces will also be made available in the booth.  #
