CEBU CITY (January 5, 2023) — Amid the pomp and rising excitement as the Jan. 15 Sinulog grand parade draws near, Mayor Mike Rama today reminded Cebuanos to never forget why Cebu is observing the festivity of the Holy Child Jesus.
He said that while everyone looks forward to enjoying the grand parade presentations, they should also prepare for and join the religious activities.

“Let us not forget that the purpose of celebrating this is because of the Senior Sto. Niño,” the mayor said after attending the novena mass that City Hall sponsored early this afternoon.
City Hall department heads accompanied him.
What the mayor said reinforced what Fr. Armando Bayron reminded everyone during his homily.

“Let us follow the teachings of Jesus and find peace in his life, as we journey in this world,” Fr. Bayron said.
He also cautioned everyone, particularly those in government, against “duplicity” while in serving the people.

“Sometimes we give our faith to God, but we also show our not-so-pleasing side. We cannot find peace in that way, we must be true and kind,” Fr. Bayron said.
With only 10 days before the grand parade, Mayor Rama said he prayed for a successful “One Cebu Sinulog 2023”.
“With all our hard work, I only pray for the success of the Sinulog,” he said.
The mayor said he continues to be on top of preparations, as the city gears towards a grand comeback for the Sinulog, after postponing the celebration for two years due to the CoViD-19 pandemic.
Central Visayas offices of national government agencies also sponsored the 1:30 p.m. Mass. #
