PLAZA SUGBO, Cebu City (Dec. 12, 2022) – Three fishers associations in the city got three new fiberglass reinforced pump boats to aid them in their livelihood.

Mayor Mike Rama and city agriculturist Engr. Joelito “Joey” Baclayon turned over the fishing boats to the associations’ representatives after the flag ceremony here today.
The recipients included Ermita Fisher Folks Association, Alumnus Seaside Fisher Folks, and Panaghugpong Inayawanong Pananagat.
Rodrigo Palermo, Monasis Toring and George Abale received the boats, respectively, on behalf of their respective associations.
Rama said that he is delighted knowing that the boats will be utilized for their livelihoods.
He said the city understands the plight of city residents, especially with calamities that communities faced throughout the years.

“We will always prioritize those who are in need because we understand them and it is our job as servants of the people. With their new fishing boats, they can continue to provide for their families as well,” he said.
Rama underscored that his administration will continue to uplift the lives of the poor, making them comfortable by opening various opportunities.
“It is always our goal in making the lives of the poor better, the middle class comfortable, and the rich to share,” he pointed out.
“We will always prioritize those who are in need because we understand them and it is our job as servants of the people. With their new fishing boats, they can continue to provide for their families as well.”

The fiberglass reinforced boats given also come with a marine engine, complete with accessories, according to Baclayon.

He added selected members of the three associations will also be sent to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR-7) facility in Carcar City where they will be trained in building pump boats as well.
“This is important kay, through this, ma-empowered sab sila. We thanked BFAR for the partnership ani nga training,” said Baclayon.
