CEBU CITY (Nov. 3, 2022) – Mayor Mike Rama has ordered the Mining Regulatory Board to suspend all quarry permits that in effect stopped all quarry operations within the jurisdiction of this city.
This came as an offshoot when he signed Executive Order No. 13, the Oplan Likay sa Landslide, during the Panaghisgot forum at noon today.

With the help of the Mines and Geosciences Burueau (MGB), officials want the hinterlands studied comprehensively and be guided in the issuance of mining permits to prevent tragedies that quarry operations may trigger.
Rama instructed the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to work with relevant city departments to also conduct an inventory of all structures as well as natural and man-made drainage.
The MGB identified at least 14 of the 30 mountain barangays as “high susceptible to landslides.” These Banilad, Budlaan, Busay, Babag, Bonbon, Malubog, Pung-ol Sibugay, Sirao, Pulangbato, Guba, Mabini, Binaliw, Agsunog and Sinsin.
