Bañares said Cebu City is fortunate to have supportive officials “who lead the city with a clear direction”.

“Kaya pumunta kami dito kasi we want to learn and be inspired sa mga best practices especially na mayroon kayong leader namakapag-direct na maayos sa mga plano,” she said.

She also praised the City’s ABC for partnering with the private sectors in its various projects and initiatives, especially during the height of the pandemic.

Drexter Jaculbe, who represented ABC President Franklyn Ong, said that the office always made sure to include the private sector during the conduct of their projects and initiatives.

“We always do a private-public partnership as much as possible. We source funds from different partnerships as well,” he said.

City Council Ex-officio Member Ong could not attend to the visitors as he was in a meeting with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)- Cebu City.

Jaculbe also reported that Cebu City’s ABC was able to deliver various services to the City’s 80 barangays in 2021. These includes engineering and accounting assistance, the release of at least P1.1 million in medical and burial assistance to barangay officials and workers.

After the onslaught of typhoon Odette last December 16, the ABC also donated and facilitated the installation of solar street lights in the barangays.

Jaculbe also showed the visitors the video presentation on Mayor Mike Rama’s plan for a Singapore-like Cebu City that he hoped would inspire the visitors to create programs that would empower their local ABC.

“Marami kaming natutunan and sana ma-implement namin kung ano ang mga nagawa dito sa Cebu, sa aming LGU.” Bañares said.

After their City Hall visit, the group will also be touring the City’s heritage sites before heading back home. #
