HOLIDAY INN, Cebu City (July 26, 2022) — The Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP) Cebu Chapter has elected Vice Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia as its new president, here, this afternoon.

Forty-six out of the 53 members of the league were present during the election. Garcia ran unopposed.
“Magpasalamat gyud ko sa akong fellow vice mayors from Cebu province for electing me as president. And rest assured nga ang ilang confidence nga gihatag nako di gyud na nako pakyason,” Garcia said.
“We will take the Vice Mayors’ League – Cebu Chapter to greater heights,” added the neophyte vice mayor.
Balamban Vice Mayor Alex Francis Bingay II was elected as the league’s vice president. Borbon Vice Mayor Roy Melgo was elected Treasurer and Minglanilla Vice Mayor Elanito Peña was elected as Public Relations Officer.
The Secretary General and Auditor positions were not yet filled during this afternoon’s election. But the group is set to appoint Dumanjug Vice Mayor Erwin Gica and Talisay City Vice Mayor Richard Francis Aznar to these posts, respectively.

Garcia said he will pursue more projects and programs for the VMLP that are particularly geared towards trainings, seminars, and benchmarking activities.
“One of the things I would also like to do is akong i-activate balik ang office sa VMLP that’s at the Capitol,” he said.
“We will reestablish it so that ang atong mga vice mayors ug maggikan sa ilang mga tagsa-tagsang lungsod, they will have a venue for them asa sila pwede mupahuway, mopahimo ba silag mga paperwork, resolutions, ordinances or letters,” he added.

Following his election as VMLP Cebu Chapter president, Garcia said he plans to run for a higher position with the National VMLP.
Particularly, he said, he is interested in running for the Executive Vice President position, which is the second highest rank in the national league.
Garcia is no stranger to such positions as he has held similar posts during his pervious terms.
